Orphaned, Victoria travels from Ireland to New York City to escape the potato famine. She quickly meets Maeve, a young girl also on her way to NYC. They are tricked out of their meager savings very quickly, and forced to take work as underpaid seamstresses. Determined to thrive, the pair quickly come up with a plan.
Buying this clock was quite the adventure. The first clock I received made a loud buzzing sound when it was plugged in. It was awful. Since my 2 year old had already fallen in love with the clock, I decided to return it and try again. On the second clock, the green light didn't work at all. I decided to try again since the 2 year old really loved it, and exchanging the clock was simple enough. The third clock has been working for two weeks now. Every couple of days I have to reset the clock and alarm since it runs fast. Overall the quality of the clock is lacking. However, my two year old loves it, AND HE STAYS IN HIS BED UNTIL THE LIGHT IS GREEN! This is pretty life altering for our family, so I guess it was worth the inconvenience.
I'd give it five stars but there is a constant looming threat that the game will expect you to dance to What Does The Fox Say.

It started out really great and this book seems to have a great potential, but somewhere towards the end, the author loses focus and the plot spirals down, and because in real life we can't always get it, I like my books at least to provide some poetic justice, and this book doesn't satisfy that need. It's an ok book, but nothing more
